Land Rover is known for two kinds of cars. The first which you can depend on when scaling even the most treacherous terrain, wading through knee-deep water, or traversing the Sahara by land. The other kind, denoted as Range Rovers are, well, commonly bought by football players and have heaps of luxury that flaunt to other road users that you made it in life. That’s not to say all Range Rovers are bad. They just do not have the same tough-as-nails, unshaved demeanour that traditional Land Rovers are famed for. Is that really a problem? The F-Type SVR is based off the quickest variant, the “R”, and is available either as a coupe or convertible. To ensure there’s no mistaking the SVR’s status as as the fastest Jaguar on sale, an extended front bumper with larger intakes looks the business and improves cooling and reduce drag. The wider front end is complimented by a front splitter and vented fenders while a new rear undertray and spoiler help reduce lift and create a purposefully aggressive look. Redesigned forged 20 inch wheels and “SVR” engraved exhaust tips finish off the exterior.

Forty metres below the streets of London, the first prototype of Land Rover’s new Range Rover Evoque Convertible was granted exclusive access to the 26-mile (41.8 km) network of Crossrail tunnels for a development test with a difference. Engineers were allowed the opportunity to drive the disguised Evoque Convertible with its roof lowered in complete privacy.

Anyway, back to the plot. The Evoque was treated with much respect (in 'Dynamic' mode, no less): late braking, hard flicks, flooring the accelerator when traffic permits, taking corners like a hot-hatch. In other words, I drove it like I just stole it, went to rob a bank and am racing towards the Malaysian border — except I am (a) no where as buffed as Channing Tatum nor (b) as bad-ass as Stallone. Every single day for half a week, I drove that way. Journey to the office has not been this fun and fast (sorry Range Rover, the M235i still blew my mind moaarr).

First up: The looks. The Range Rover Sport is still as big and imposing, even though we noticed several “softer” features. The grille has been replaced with a less prominent two-bar design instead of the older three. The lights still maintain their shape, but the front lamps have been updated with a ring of LEDs that form the daytime running lights, while the lights in the rear get a subtle work-over.
